Thamesmead

Towers in the park
First sight of Thamesmead's iconic Corbusian tower blocks.

The way out
Covered bridge, looking back towards Lesnes Abbey park.

End of summertime
The rich autumn colours of the trees contrast nicely with Thamesmead's ubiquitous grey concrete.

Vertical living
There are loads of these identical blocks throughout the town, creating a strange feeling of déja vu as you walk around.

Lines and angles
Everything in Thamesmead is cast from the same gritty, rain-stained concrete. A Brutalist Mecca.

Vertical living!

Most people in the outskirts of Madrid live vertical and not everyone gets to have a balcony actually. But it is funny though the sense of oppression that the bench in front of the railing implies. Its actually hilarious, who would want to see there? That givesme this idea that it could be interesting to present a collection of picture of hilariously absurd public spaces, there are quite a few around in Madrid and I do remember similar impossible "public recreation places" in London too.

;-) Sublime lay out by the way!

Sloppy as always, never checking the spelling!

where it says see it should say sit. Who would want to sit on that bench?

Thanks very much :D

I hadn't actually planned it to come out that way - I have a well-honed method of photography which is just to take like a brazillion frames, and then pick out the one or two which accidentally look good...

Shhhhhh, that's my secret to photography, too. I like to pretend I actually know how to take nice pictures, but they're all by accident. You've blown my cover!

I like the -maybe casual?- disposition between the fourth and the fifth ones: The fourth one, with a lot more sky than the other ones and even with that leaves and branches in first therm. The fifth, just the contrary, even in a low angle and with that sort of jail gate in first therm, as an oposite to the fourth one. Meaning of that? Simply, after a stressing day It looked me this, nothing all... And i like too the casual way to "find" the photos in each place, a lot more than to go to "search" them, even, at the end, I don´t know what it makes a photo full of excitement and another not.
Thanks for to post them :)

Yes, I think if it was clever then my subconscious probably did it :D

It is a strangely beautiful place though, in a sick way.
